The fuss about Blackberry Messenger (BBM) coming to Android and iPhone is a very interesting one. As we stated in one of our posts, BBM for Android and iOS is expected to be released before September ending.
Already, real image of BBM for Android only have surfaced, which we saw at BGR website, and this we present to you below.
Although we believe that BBM for other platforms should have been available long before now, yet, better late than ever.
The real question is, will BBM for Android and iOS kill the strong hold that Whatsapp already have on these platforms? If you think so, drop your comments. Samsung has seen a surprisingly huge positive reaction to its Galaxy S4 Active handset, a water and dust protected handset, and this might have prompted it to kickstart development of a ruggedized Galaxy Note 3 edition, according to Korean publication ET News.
Not just that, Samsung is reportedly considering making the Galaxy S5, its next Android flagship, waterproof and dust-resistant out of the box. The Galaxy S4 Active was a slightly lower-specced version of Samsung’s 2013 flagship, the Galaxy S4. The new developments however are said to be for a fully-specced and not watered down version of the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S5.
We have already seen Sony go this way with the Xperia Z1 and the Xperia Z earlier this year as both its flagships are ruggedized and still look great. Lets keep in mind, though, that right now we have no substantial evidence backing the rumor of ruggedized new high-end Samsung devices, so do take it with a grain of salt.

Almost a third of internet users are still running Windows XP, despite the impending cut-off date for Microsoft support for the 12-year-old operating system (OS). Meanwhile, Microsofts previous generation Windows 7 OS remained the most popular in November 2013, as Windows 8 struggled to scrape less than 10 percent of the market.
According to data gathered by NetMarketShare, 31.22 percent of internet users were running their computers on Windows XP in November, only dropping by 0.02 percent from the previous month. XP has lost around eight percent of its share in the 12 months to November, however, while Windows 7 and 8 have been making gains.
Windows 7 now holds 46.64 percent of the market, up from 44.71 percent in November 2012, and has become the OS of choice for many enterprises thanks to its three years of maturity in the market over 2012s Windows 8.
Microsofts latest OS has 9.3 percent of the market after a little over a year since its release. This includes 6.66 percent for standard Windows 8 and a 2.42 percent share for the latest Windows 8.1 version, which included a number of improvements to its controversially updated "modern" user interface. There are more users running 2006s Windows Vista (3.57 percent) than Windows 8.1, according to the data.
We all have our own idea about what an Apple-branded television would, or perhaps should, look like. And those of us who have spent more time thinking about it than is strictly necessary, given that its still a rumour, also have an idea of the features it will have and what well be able to do with it besides watch TV. We put our heads together in the office, and after a long, and only occasionally rancorous, discussion came up with our idea of what the Apple iTV will be like. We threw out some lovely ideas because, while theyd be fun, theyre either not practical or the technology isnt quite right yet. We included others which may be unlikely but are technically possible. (Whats the purpose of an exercise like this if not to have some fun and dream a little?) Weve even worked out how the remote control could work and how the successor to the existing Apple TV could solve that perennial flat-screen TV problem: poor audio quality.
It goes without saying that an Apple television would look stunning, but theres a great deal more to it than that. We think the TV weve come up with knocks the socks off anything else on the market and if Apple were to launch one today, wed be first in the queue, credit cards at the ready.
Introducing Apple iTV
Remote control
At least in terms of interaction, the remote control is perhaps the most important part of the TV, and we think there are a couple of possible options for it. One is a slim aluminium remote similar to the one Apple uses for Apple TV. If it went down this route, we think the remote would have a mic for Siri and connect with Bluetooth low energy. The other option would be a new iPod touch. It would have a touchscreen interface, allowing you to swipe, tap, and type to control the Apple TV. It too would have a microphone for Siri. Putting the Siri mic in the remote rather than the TV would mean that only one person could control the television at a time, which is essential in our view. Finally, in keeping with Apples focus on simplicity, the remote would also have an infra-red transmitter so that it could also be used as a universal remote for other devices you may own.
Channels
In our view, Apples television wont have channels in the traditional sense. Apples purpose in producing a TV is selling content and services, so it will want to ensure you use it to watch and listen to content it provides. For that reason, we envisage channels as apps. In the same way that Apple TV currently has apps for Major League Baseball, The Wall Street Journal, and Netflix, so the Apple television will have apps for BBC, ITV, and so on. Those apps will either be made by Apple in partnership with content providers, or by the providers themselves, in the same way as they develop apps for iOS. We think the former is more likely; consistency is even more important on a television than it is on a tablet. Expect to see apps for major channels and for catch-up and on-demand services. You will also, of course, be able to buy and rent movies and TV programmes from the iTunes Store. As with the second- and third-generation Apple TV, you wont be able to download those movies and programmes to the television, youll have to stream them from Apple. Youll also be able to connect a Sky+, Virgin Media, Freeview, or YouView set-top box to the television, allowing you to watch those channels to which you subscribe or which are free-to-air. Of course, Apple will want you to stay within its universe, but preventing you from accessing your Sky or Virgin Media content would be sheer madness. Finally, the television will have AirPlay support, so youll be able to mirror iOS apps from your device.
Audio
If recent tweaks to Apples Mac line-up are anything to go by, audio quality is increasingly important to Apple. And we think it will be a key feature in an Apple television. One possibility is that it could incorporate the downward firing speakers in the current iMac line-uip - check out our iMac review. These are really rather good, and loud enough to fill a decent-sized living room. They rely on the screen being only a few inches above a flat surface, however, in order to reflect the sound. Given the number of people who wall-mount televisions, that would be a problem. We pondered the idea of a wireless sound bar with a separate sub-woofer and its an attractive proposition. In the end, however, we decided Apple was more likely to go for an all-singing, alldancing, cinematic surround-sound setup. Being Apple, of course, it would have to be wireless. That would mean a new version of AirPlay with support for a wireless 5.1 channel audio codec, something which may prove too much of a challenge initially. But even if wireless surround-sound speakers arent available at launch, we think theyll arrive in a future version.
Especially if we’ve installed the 2.0 software, which you can’t avoid if you bought a 3G iPhone. Basically, the software’s not ready, but we’re using it. And that leads to very bad behavior. I spent most of the weekend with my iPhone connected to my iMac, trying to get it iworking again. And still it’s not right. Let that be a lesson to you.
Meanwhile, I can’t wait for the new iPhone 2.1 software, which supposedly solves all kinds of problems. I’d be happy if it just solves one: the one where one program crashes and from that point forward, NONE of your apps work.
By the way, the backups that the iPhone does during synching aren’t very useful. Don’t think that they will save the day for you. Odds are that they are corrupt in some way. Mine were. So, when I wiped out my iPhone and “started over” I was putting bad stuff back onto the iPhone. Nice.
Drop in on an Apple Store at the end of the day when the Geniuses are tired of trying to solve iPhone problems and you may get one of them to tell you something like “look, it doesn’t work right, we know it, and we want to see the new 2.1 software more than you do.” That’s what they told me tonight. I believe them.

Any other additional settings? Lower the screen brightness, bluetooth off if we did not use, configure notifications for apps that only we care, etc.. Adjust the system ultimately the most optimal way for our use. Even if we have not noticed any battery problem, some of these actions could give us a little extra. Since each decide what to do. It is also true that if a problem Apple should fix in future software updates.
